Call me crazy...

… but I think all of the broadcast spectrum in the USA/World should be devoted to Highspeed internet access for all. Not owned or operated by a government, this system could replace Phones (with WiPhones), AM/FM Radio (with Streaming Audio), and the traditional DSL/Cable Connection.

I dunno if this is communistic or not… just an Idea… I’m just tired of the Big Dawgs in the corporate world stomping on competition.

- Cingular outbid a wireless broadband start-up for a nationwide piece of spectrum… just so they wouldn’t have another competitor.
- The FCC has limited my choices for broadband to 2: Adelphia and Alltel. They both suck and I’d rather have Verizon FiOS, which is availible within walking distance of my house.

Ever have one of those days where you can’t find what you’re looking for on a cell phone coverage map of Ukraine?

Filed under: School, Random, Travel — jimX @ 12:28 am

I have. I can’t find Chernobyl. It’s somewhere north of Kiev (КИЕВ). I need it for my english paper.

FYI, You’re looking for “ЧОРНОБУЛЬ” or “ПРИПЯТ”.

Xugle.com: Half a Million Iranians can't be wrong!

Filed under: Blog, Random, Travel, Tech — jimX @ 6:48 pm

Dear Valued customer,

Recently we have noticed that your web site(s)is consuming a disproportionate amount of server resources. Due to this, we have had to move your account off of the shared hosting server to an auxilliary server host. We will now request that you consider purchasing a Managed or Dedicated Server in order to continue hosting services with 1&1 Internet.

Your account was moved based on a decision made by the system administrators in
order to improve the quality of service to the rest of our clients on the shared
hosting server you were previously hosted on. Your account’s resource needs
were exceeding the capacity of that server to capably host the other accounts,
thus it had to be moved to mitigate the server load. Though we could move your
site back to the original shared hosting server, it is not recommended. Your
account activity has showed that it deserves its own server to better suite its
performance needs.

Please visit 1and1.com to review the server products we offer. You will have
one(1) month to make a decision and migrate your account over to 1&1 server
or another host provider. You can choose to return your account back to the
shared server systems if you wish, provided that you take steps to reduce the
load generated by your websites. If the account has to be moved off the
shared server system again you will only have the option of purchasing a
dedicated server account to continue hosting with 1&1 Internet.

Thank you for your compliance in this matter.

This is the Email I received from my Webhoast at 5:47pm EST On 4/7/2006. Naturally, this is not a good thing,so I downloaded the logs from my server. I found that there were thousands of hits coming from Iran To the proxies . These hits ranged from Internet Explorer to Mozilla-style browsers on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. Iran is one of the countries in the world that censors the internet at the national scale. Although I want to help these depribed people, I can’t afford the banwidth so I had to move the proxies to undisclosed locations on the internet. I expect a friendly visit from my Local G-Man any day now, and I will be posting the logs on my server at a later time. I will be posting instructions on how to use the Tor Network in the places where the proxies used to be.

Hopefully, my hoast will take pity on me and not charge me the $10k I owe them in bandwidth. If they do, Iran owes me a college education.

The Late Bell Rings…

Filed under: School, Random, Friends, Travel — jimX @ 5:58 pm

Ahh yes. First day of the school week. Time for a fresh start and another fun-filled day of quality education!

>_< If only it were so.

Wake up at 6AM, Jump through the shower, get dressed, grab my school stuff from around my room, head downstairs, half cup of coffee (Puerto Rican stuff cuz it has more go-power) and head out the door.

First Period, Geometry with Ms. Rodgers:
I’m half asleap, and I still grasp the concepts (Patterns). I got the one and only quiz back… I missed two points out of 15… FORGOT TO DO NUMBER FOUR! Damn… stupid mistake. I read over the question (”Conpare and contrast a Line segment and a ray”) and I thought to myself, “!!! I could have gotten those two points !!!” Oh well… I’ll make up for it later.

I hang a left out of the room, and walk down the stairs, Lugging every book issued to me…

Second Period, Spanish With Señorita Bullian:
The Bullianator’s class is an interesting one… All freshman (including me) except for three or so ramedial Sophomores (excluding me)… we go over classroom objects (la lista, el cuaderno, la silla, la puerta, el estudiante, la estudiante, la bandana americana, las carpetas, lapíz, marcador, la profesora, papel, etc., etc., etc.) , watch an extremely short video about people in San Juan buying school supplies, do a worksheet on said 90 second video, and leave.

I grab my books and try to pile them into my over-crowded backpack. Once the zipper was secure, I leave the room and follow one of my friends to my next class (I’m about 50% lost still)

Third Period, Civics and Government with Mrs. Smith:
Smith’s classes have lacked overall substance so far… in one week, we went over the student handbook (a pointless piece of literature that tells you what you can and cannot do on school grounds, etc.) and then today we took notes on the seven social sciences… *sarcasm* oooh fun */sarcasm* the best part of this class, you ask? I sit in the back.

The Bell (sounds like the sound you hear after you dial a phone [well at least in the USA], except longer) rang and I fought with my backpack to get my notebook in. I walked briskly to the nearest stairwell and went up… hung a left, right, forward three rooms and a left.

Fourh Period, Visual Basic.net with Ms. Stefkovitch:
I sat down in my usual, non-assigned, seat and waited. The Usual non-structured environment ensues… We’re told to Login (to windows :-( ), open up Visual Basic Dev Kit, create a blank project, save it, exit the program. That took 45 minutes.

I leave the class and head to the right. “This don’ look right”, I thought. I take out my map (jeez… I feel like Dora the explorer now!) and find that I went the entirely wrong way. *is pwnt* I find my way to the next class.

Period 5a, Study Hall with Dr. Loughner:
I sit down in my sir-yes-sir-drill-sergent-yes-sir-I-obey assigned seat and take out a notebook. I spend this time drawing. Quake 4 Logo and the Doom The Movie Logo.

The bell rings, and the usual rush follows. I get up, leaving my stuff where it lies.

Period 5b, Lunch with My Firends:
After navigating the maze that is my school, I get into the Ala Carté Line. 15 minutes out of my 30 minute lunch later, I hear “what can I get you?” I mutter back, “Pertzel with cheese and a lemonade”. I pay for my “lunch” and sit on the end of the usual table. that Me and my friends (Casey, Kyle, Matt, Monica and Derek) share.

We’re dismissed from lunch and I pitch whats left of my lemonade…

Peroid 5c, prison Study Hall with Doc Lough (again): A pic of my Jinx Stickers should be here, but somthing went wrong.
Usually, after lunch Doc Lough is a little more leanient on talking. Not so today. I spent this study hall getting most of my nothing done, and watching the uber-leftest-watered-down-they-can’t-handle-the-truth news program thats broadcast to our school.

6th Period, English 9 with Mr. Evanov (ee-van-oh):
This is *that one class* that you thoroughly hate dislike in high school. The kid to my left has the intelligence of a grasshopper and brags about how much pot he smokes. The Kid to my right and back one has an IQ that rivals that of a lima bean, and also brags about his drug use habits. I think my teacher is a little “untraditional”, if you catch my drift. If not, just forget I typed anything.

7th Period, Gym with Mr. Shusteric:
This is *that one class* that you hate in high school. First instruction of the class: “Run Five Laps”, which translates to One Mile. I walk the last quarter lap and hope that Shusteric dosn’t notice/mind. for the rest of the class, we play handball… a scary hybred of basketball and soccor. Basketball - (2 X Hoops) + (2 X Soccor Nets) = Hand Ball

8th Period, Honors Biology with Ms. Sutmire:
Sutmire is cryptic at times… but in a way thats ment to keep you thinking, not to keep you from understanding… today we did a group activity about The Scientific meathod… *zZz*

ahh… time to leave.

When I got home, I got my J!nx stickers in the mail! (shown at right)
That was my day.

bye.
