Tech Support 2 & Random Bits
Ok
Here’s the current status of my new computer:
- Hardware came
- All the hardware is good, except for a messed up front panel on the case
- Temoprary OS installed
Now, Here’s my second rant about tech support:
You know what pisses me off? Tech support that points the finger at another company.
I tried to transplant my Hard drive from my Sony PC to my new one. The drive and OS are both known-good, but for some reason, when I boot the computer, I get the “Safe Mode/Safe mode with command prompt/Safe Mode with Networking/ Start Windows Normally/Start with last known good configuration” prompt. No matter what option I choose, I get a BSoD and the system restarts. Repeat Cylce. I thought this was a job for tech supprt… so I started a text chat with a Microsoft Rep.
Summary of Microsoft Log:
Me: I’m having a problem with my copy of windows… *explains situation*
Indian Dude: Yes. I’ve heard of this one… lemme check my computer help file
Me: *sigh*
Indian: You must reformat your hard drive and start over.
Me: heh. How about… F NO!
Indian: Then you must use the System Restore disks and repair the installation
Me: It’s not broken.
Indian: If you’re calling this number, it must be.
Me: uhhhh… huh. *closes window*
Today, I called Gigabyte’s non-toll free Tech saupport number. I was on Hold for 15 minutes only to get the bogus answer of “You must boot the computer into windows on the GA-K8N Pro-SLI and install the chipset drivers before you can boot windows.” — gee. thanks.
Now I’m stuck with $600 worth of components that sorta work.
I’m going to get Microsoft back on the Line for the $35 Tech support and then if I dont get a resolution, I’ll tell my parents to refute the credit card charge. (No Goods/Services, No Cash)
gah. I’ll get this working. Hopefully I’ll get to headbutt/kick someone before this works ^_^
-jX is now officcially pissed
